Would a Vodafone from Netherlands work in France

Would a Vodafone from Netherlands work in France?
I bought a sim card cell from Netherlands, and I am going to Paris, I am wondering if the cellphone (vodafone) work in Paris. Also, would the charger from Netherlands work in Paris. I am not too familiar with Europe yet. Thanks. Also, would I be able to rent a car in Europe and drive with an American License?

If you buy a sim card in the Netherlands then it is only sensible to use it in the Netherlands. Using it in Paris will mean you are charged extra for using and recieving calls abroad. It is more sensible to use a pay-as-you-go sim card for NL to use in NL, and then if you are spending time in Paris to do the same there as well (unless you have credit left on your NL sim card and you are not planning to return in the trip) The charger from NL will also work in Paris,no problem at all Yes you will be able to rent a car with an American licence in most countries that I am aware of, but there may be a chance you will need the International Driver's Permit to accompany it, as it is "recommended" in some countries (although with the bigger rental agencies at least then this is not commonly requested) You can see here on the Rick Steves' guide (his info is usually pretty reliable about Europe from what I have read on other subjects) and you can see the countries where it is recommended, and how to obtain it (plus other tips) http://www.ricksteves.com/rail/carrent.htm and here is the official State dept info http://travel.state.gov/travel/tips/safety/safety_1179.html

Your sim card will work but the rate they charge per minute or sms will change the charger will work in all European countries except the UK and Ireland.
